Data Storage / Back-up

Virtualization across the data center is creating need for tighter integration of servers, networking and storage. Also with explosive growth in data, many organizations are struggling to manage, protect, mitigate risk and maintain rapidly growing information assets while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Today, information has become the lifeline for business stability and competitive advantage, the ability to manage and deliver trusted information as a strategic asset becomes a critical enabler to making organizations smarter and increasingly more competitive.

NTIPL`s infrastructure storage solutions can help you manage the explosion information by enabling a dynamic information infrastructure.

NTIPL`s export team & storage knowledge in the dynamic helps our customer to security store, control, protect, manage and optimize access to information for new intelligence & business insight.

NTIPL offer range of storage solution hardware and software from world’s leader in information storage management.

EMC storage is the premier network storage company helping out companies in different sectors and NTIPL is proud to be the leading EMC partner in India with presence throughout the country.

Network Storage

Network storage assists in organization of data and saving it in easily accessible manner. Commonly there are two types of network storage:
  1. Direct Attached Storage: In this type of storage data is stored in hard drive of the computer.
  2. Network Attached Storage: In NAS, data is stored on another computer attached in the network or on a server which is part of the network.

Server Storage and Its Types

What is server storage or what are storage servers? For these questions you are going to get different replies since there different types of server. So for minimizing the confusion I will explain different type of servers.

Disk servers and storage

Disk servers or storage servers are used for storing of data and ideally these servers have high storage. If the server is used as high performance disk then it has supplementary system of hardware as well as software. Means this system will have techniques that will allow for duplication.

These servers also have backup devices for getting uninterruptible power supply which is commonly called as UPS. This kind of battery power is needed if power failure takes place to provide electricity so team can carry on operation for sometime. Maximum time that you can get from this category of system depends on the performance of UPS you are having.

Another point to mention here is that if the network is having high traffic density, i.e., many read as well as write operations, the disk server should have high network card speed to avoid overload.

Print servers

Print servers give its consumers a facility to print or the capability to manage printing in a networked environment, i.e. all work that are sent for printing are positioned in a queue (printer queue). It should also be able to handle priorities and errors at the time of printing. There is no prerequisite for print server to be a network PC. Usually software is installed on a system that is linked to a network. So that it can act as print server or as a client.

Graphics Servers

Graphics server is one that serves the remaining network clients, i.e. you may have specialized equipment on the network with advanced sophisticated graphics cards to create graphics more promptly and then send to rest of client workstations.

Communication Servers

Communication servers are those that control communication service of a local area network to the outside world.

Mail Servers

Mail servers are those that carry out all the functions of electronic messaging service to users and it can be internal messaging network. But mail servers are not related to internal servers in any manner.

Now when you know about various types of available servers, it is crucial to know about clients or workstations. The workstations are essentially known as dumb terminals and they do not function if connection is not available to the network. Servers usually have a system of user accounts to restrict access.
